Memories pass me by like the Berlin U-Bahn:
a rattling, a streak of light, a brief glance through the window and gone.
Some hold for only one station.
Others travel straight through me without stopping.
I see faces I long wanted to forget,
like reflections in the glass: there, as long as the train is still moving.
And when the doors close, only the echo remains
that metallic “soon… soon…”,
as if time itself were departing.
